Marye Anne Fox, a world-renowned chemist, is the 7th Chancellor of the University of California, San Diego and Professor of Chemistry. Before her current appointment, she served as North Carolina State University's 12th Chancellor, as Distinguished University Professor of Chemistry at NC State (from 1998 to 2004) and as Waggoner Regents Chair in Chemistry and Vice President for Research at the University of Texas at Austin.

Augustine Gallego, former chancellor of the San Diego Community College District, is chairman of the board of the American Council on Education. He also serves on the boards of the Business Higher Education Forum and ACT (formerly American College Testing). He is former chair of the American Association of Community Colleges.

MRC Greenwood is provost and senior vice president for academic affairs for the 10-campus University of California system. She previously served as chancellor of UC Santa Cruz. Greenwood also holds a UC Davis appointment as professor of biology. A member of the National Science Board, she has served as associate director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and as president of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science.

Irwin Jacobs is co-founder and chairman of QUALCOMM, a company he co-founded in 1985. An electrical engineer, he has held faculty positions at MIT and the University of California, San Diego. He is a recipient of the National Medal of Technology, the nation’s highest award for achievements in the commercialization of technology.

Anne Petersen is deputy director at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford, She is also a professor of psychology at Stanford. Dr. Petersen was formerly the senior vice president for programs at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation of Battle Creek, Michigan. Previously, Dr. Petersen served as deputy director and COO of the National Science Foundation, and served as the first vice president for research, dean of the Graduate School, and professor of adolescent development and pediatrics at the University of Minnesota,. She was the first dean of the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State University. Petersen is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Psychological Association, and the American Psychological Society. In July 2006, she became president of the International Society for the Study of Behavioral Development.
