Suzanne G. Brainard, is executive director of the University of Washington's Center for Workforce Development, whose Women in Science and Engineering program received a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring. She co-founded WEPAN and chairs the NSF Committee on Equal Opportunities in Science and Engineering. Daryl E. Chubin, senior vice president at the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME), served as senior policy officer of the National Science Board. A psychologist, he chairs the AAAS Section on Societal Impacts of Science and Engineering and is president of the Commission on Professionals in Science and Engineering. Manuel N. Gomez,
interim vice president for educational outreach at the University of California,
is also vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of California,
Irvine. He established the Center for Educational Partnerships and California
Alliance for Minority Participation (CAMP). Shirley M. McBay, a mathematician and former dean of students at MIT, is president of Quality Education for Minorities (QEM), a non-profit organization whose mission is the increased participation and advancement of underrepresented minorities in science, mathematics, engineering and technology fields. Anne Pruitt-Logan, former professor of educational policy at Ohio State, is scholar-in-residence at the Council on Graduate Schools. Principle investigator on NSF and APS grants, she directs the Preparing Future Faculty Program that is designed to transform the way doctoral programs prepare aspiring faculty. Carlos Rodriguez, principal research scientist at the American Institute for Research, specializes in program evaluation related to minority student academic attainment. He has served as principal advisor to the President's Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans. He also holds an appointment as a scholar-in-residence at American University. Sue Rosser, dean of Ivan Allen College at Georgia Tech, specializes in theoretical and applied problems of women and science. She is a member of the National Academy of Sciences Committee on Women in Science and Engineering and of the National Academy of Engineering Steering Committee on the Engineer of 2020. Claibourne D. Smith, a chemist, is president of the Delaware Foundation for Science and Math Education, and is former vice president, technology and professional development at Dupont. He is a member of the Delaware State Board of Education and its State Commission on Higher Education.
William Washington, a computer scientist and software engineer,
is director of Program Development for Lockheed Martin and is focused
on development, enhancement and training of business development processes
and best practices. He is a member of the Lockheed Martin Mentoring Initiatives,
the George Mason University Diversity Advisory Board, and serves as university
ambassador for the University of Maryland Baltimore County. |
