![]() Brenda L. Sullivan has 20 years experience in the public relations industry managing all aspects of communications programs, including national awareness campaigns, media relations, product launches, special events, news conferences, public presentations, publishing, creative writing, visual design and video and film production. For the past six years Brenda has served as communications director for Building Engineering and Science Talent, a non-profit supported by the U.S. Department of Defense, National Science Foundation, Qualcomm, Lockheed Martin, Hewlett Packard and Intel where she has been instrumental in publishing several reports to Congress, developing web-based communications tools and executive producing a 90-minute instructional film for teachers about materials science. Most recently, Brenda has honed her skills in electronic communications and publicity, garnering national media coverage for local clients, including the cover of Inc. magazine, plus articles in USA Today, WIRED magazine, US News & World Report, and the Associated Press. Recent broadcast coverage includes The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Good Morning America. During seven years with Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide in Washington, DC, Brenda’s agency clients included the U.S Fire Administration, FEMA, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Maternal and Child Health Bureau, MasterCard, and the Corporation for National Service (AmeriCorps). She oversaw the launch of numerous national public education campaigns on their behalf. Brenda contributed successful media placements in Prevention, Glamour, Mademoiselle, The Wall Street Journal and USA Today’s Snapshots section. She has also secured broadcast placements, including Good Morning America, Nightline, Fox’s Not Just News, and hundreds of local TV stations as well as recruiting celebrity spokespersons William Shatner and Ossie Davis. Brenda also spent two years as communications director of the National SAFE KIDS Campaign, a Washington-DC based advocacy organization founded by former Surgeon General C. Everett Coop and sponsored by Johnson & Johnson and General Motors. The Campaign is well-regarded by the media and Brenda led the team awarded a Silver Anvil award by the Public Relations Society of America for “National SAFE KIDS Week.” Brenda received a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalist from San Diego State University. She is currently pursuing a certificate in digital design at the University of California, San Diego. |
