BEST is a recognized thought leader in championing diversity, equity, and inclusion in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). With over two decades of experience, BEST leverages strong partnerships across government, industry, and academia to create systemic change. Our data-driven approach ensures we develop tailored programs that address the unique needs of our partners and the communities they serve.

BEST’s contributions reflect their commitment to fostering STEM talent development within our nation’s diverse, yet underutilized communities. We empower individuals to excel in STEM careers through mentoring, coaching K-12 educators and creating opportunities for students through experiential learning. Additionally, we guide organizations that seek to develop inclusive resources and training where diverse talent can flourish.

The impact of BEST's work is multifaceted. We bolster our nation's scientific and technological competitiveness by ensuring the U.S. fully utilizes its diverse talent pool. BEST champions the creation of pathways to opportunity, leading to increased economic mobility for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds.

In 2019, BEST became a consortium management partner for the Defense STEM Education Consortium (DSEC), a collaborative partnership between academia, industry, not-for-profit organizations, and government that aims to broaden STEM literacy and develop a diverse and agile workforce to power the United States’ innovative defense infrastructure. BEST led the consortium’s strategic outreach initiatives and monitoring, coordinating, and supporting the work of DSEC’s 24 strategic outreach partners and four Hubs across the nation. BEST developed and managed the HBCU/MI Pathways Network Initiative to enhance the reach of DSEC programs in collaboration with HBCUs and community colleges.

BEST assisted Department of Defense (DoD) funded Manufacturing Innovation Institutes partner with minority-serving institutions to improve diversity and create strategies for inclusion. Most importantly, our efforts have contributed to building a more diverse and equitable society where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and succeed in STEM fields.
